The staff at Marcia’s are highly trained
professionals who bring their love and passion
for dance into each and every class, no matter
what the level. Several of my teachers dance
professionally and are choreographing and
directing throughout the suburbs and Chicago. No
need to travel downtown to attend classes, when
we have such a variety of professional and
passionate teachers right in your backyard.
Teachers who really love what they do—Dance!! They are the BEST!!

Marcia Dobslaf, Artistic
Director/Owner studied and received her dance
training under the direction of Dee Leo, Vivienne
Churma, Sherry Lesko, Tommy Sutton, Gus Giordano
Studios, Randy Duncan, and trained with gymnastics
specialists Bob Bord and Clay Thompson of
Milwaukee. Her students continue to add to their
vast collection of awards by attending competitions,
workshops, and performing in community events.
Marcia continues her private tutoring for those
girls who would like to “fine-tune” their Poms and
Cheerleading skills. Marcia teaches all levels and
directs the Energize Dance Companies. |

Judy Howard
is educated in both music and theatre and has been
teaching at Marcia’s for 26 years. Her talents and
creativity are passed along to our younger dance
students. Judy’s unique methods for building
self-esteem, confidence and love for dance have
added to the increasing popularity of our Tiny Toes
program. |

Kate Khorolinski
is a professional ballerina from Belarus, one of the
republics from the former Soviet Union. She began
her dancing career at the age of 5. In 1988, at the
age of 10, she was accepted to the Belarus State
Academy. Upon graduation, Kate was hired by the
state dance company of Belarus, where she continued
her career for 6 years. She performed on all continents
in 16 countries. |

Yolanda Friedman is
a former student of Marcia’s, where she danced for
17 years. She was a member of our Energize Dance
Company and Glenbrook South Varsity Poms Squad where
she was captain. Yolanda is head Dance
Choreographer for Strictly Fun Entertainment Inc.
and continues to educate our student with her
Hip-Hop skills. She works with our Tiny-Toes
students through high school age and tutors girls
for cheer and pom try-outs. |

Jennifer Zyrkowski
received her degree from the University of Illinois
and went on to be the Assistant Director for the
Faubourg Ballet Theatre in FL. Jennifer’s extensive
training in ballet, modern and jazz has enabled her
to work under the direction of great choreographers
like LucVanier, Chih-Chun Huang, Robert Brown,
Cynthia Pipkin Doyle and Joel Hall. She continues
to study at Joel Hall Dance Center in Chicago.
Jennie is an ensemble member of Chicago Dance Crash
and performs in numerous shows throughout the year. |

Shannon Strollo
has most recently studied dance at the University of
Cincinnati, College of Conservatory Music. Her
professional experience includes being a company
dancer for the Chicago Honey Bears as well as a
company dancer for the Rochester City Ballet in New
York. Shannon has performed as a soloist and
principal in many productions in New York and Ohio.

Kristina Ancil, originally from Pittsburgh
PA, received her formal training with Pittsburgh
Ballet Theatre School where she completed both the
Schenley High School and Graduate Programs. She has
danced the Pittsburgh Opera, Louisville Ballet,
American National Ballet, Chicago Ballet, the Lyric
Opera of Chicago, and guested with Albany Berkshire
Ballet and Peoria Ballet. She now resides in
Chicago and is a member of NoMi LaMad Dance Inc. |

Katie Duffy
graduated with a BFA in dance from the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas. She has worked with guest
artists such as: Charmaine Hunter, Greg Sample, Mike
Esperanza, Eddie Ocampo, and Jay Frankie. Katie
traveled to Seoul Korea performing and taking
classes at the Korean National Sports University.
She also was invited to travel to Turks and Caicos
performing and teaching hip hop and jazz demo
classes throughout the island. Katie received a
dance scholarship at the Gus Giordano’s Dance
Center. Training for 6 weeks, dancing 6 days a
week, Katie and 6 other dancers from all over the
United States took a variety of dance classes with
and from the company members. Currently, Katie
performs with the Chicago Honey Bears Dancers and is
enthused to share her passion for dance with
Marcia’s Dance Studio. Try a

Deanne Starr
who is no stranger to the
studio was a member of the Energize Dance Company at
it's inception and has been on staff for 18 years
teaching jazz, hip-hop and lyrical. She's been an
instructor of the Energize Dance Company for over 10
years. Her award winning choreography has been
recognized at several statewide competitions. She
was a member of the Stevenson Patriettes, Repertory
Dance Company and studied dance at the University of
Kansas for 4 years. Deanne will be working with the
Energize Dance Companies this year. |

Avnun Yakubov
was born in Russia and received a Masters Degree in
Choreography and Arts Management from the
Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Leningrad. Mr.
Yakubov was the Artistic Director and Head
Choreographer Alumnus of the Moscow Ballet Theater
in Russia from 1973-1993. From 1974-1988, he staged
numerous works in Italy, Austria, Turkey, and
Greece. By invitation of the Italian government in
1992, he choreographed and produced “An Evening with
Strauss.” He also choreographed different ballets
for the Kirov Theater in Leningrad and the Vaganova
Choreography College. From 1993-1997, Mr. Yakubov
appeared in the Chicago Festival Ballet’s
“Nutcracker” as Herr Drosselmeyer and served as
Ballet Master and Choreographer for the Chicago
Festival Ballet School. He served as a choreography
instructor for the Looking Glass Theater Company’s
production of Bulgakov’s “Master and “Margarita” and
taught at the Lou Conte Studio. Mr. Yakubov was the
Ballet Master and Head Choreographer for the
Faubourg Ballet Theater from 1995-2001. In 1997-1998
he staged and choreographed Ravel’s “Bolero” and
“Paquita” with Alexander Lunev (principal dancer
with the Kirov Ballet). In 1999-2000, he served as
Ballet Master and choreographer at the Academy of
Dance Arts. There he staged and choreographed “New
Ballet Divertissement” and “Paquita” with Roger Van
Fleteren (principal dancer with American Ballet
Theatre) and Yumelia Garcia (principal dancer with
Milwaukee Ballet). |
